SLU 101 - Strategies for Success
The Saint Leo University Center for Online Learning is committed to students and
their success. SLU 101, “Strategies for Success,” is one example of our commitment.
It is a two-week course designed to ensure that students are fully prepared for
the online learning environment and focuses on the skill sets needed to do well.
The course has dramatically improved the start-up success for our students since
its introduction.
SLU 101 is instructor-led and, while most assignments are not difficult, they introduce
students to the resources of Saint Leo and the core values and policies of the University
as well as the personal discipline that online study requires. One other feature
of the course is the opportunity to “meet” fellow students online in comfortable
discussions that often serve as the beginning of long-term friendships.
“Strategies for Success” is graded on a “pass-fail” basis. Most students who fail
do so simply because they did not complete the required work. Thus, in this course
and in all courses, it is important to plan your work and work your plan. Students
who fail must retake the course and pass before being allowed to take credit-bearing
courses.
