Saint Leo University recognizes transfer credit only from regionally accredited degree granting institutions. Some colleges, junior colleges, and technical schools may have national accreditation, but Saint Leo solely accepts regional accreditation as listed in the American Council on Education's Accredited Institutions of Postsecondary Education.
Non-Tradional Transfer Credits: Military
If you are a member of the Armed Services, credits for military courses and training are accepted by Saint Leo University as long as they are earned or validated by the National Guide to Educational Credit for Training programs published by the American Council on Education (ACE) and/or the Guide to the Evaluation of Educational Experiences in the Armed Services. The maximum number of credits that can be transferred is 33.
Non-Tradional Transfer Credits: Police, Career, Nursing, Etc.
If you have career training with courses of more than 40 hours, Saint Leo University's Registrar will evaluate your transcripts or your official training center certificates. A maximum of 24 credits can be awarded.
Non-Tradional Transfer Credits: Formal Educational Programs and Courses Sponsored by Corporation and Non-Collegiate Organizations
Collect your corporate training certificates. If they meet the credit recommendations established by the National Guide to Educational Credit for Training Programs or the Directory of the National Program on Non-Collegiate Sponsored Instruction (PONSI), the Registrar may give you credit.
Standardized Examinations: ACT PEP : Excelsior, CLEP, DANTES, USAFI, etc.
You may earn up to 30 credits from Saint Leo University if you take and pass certain standardized tests and examinations with the required scores. Before taking these exams, we recommend you meet with your academic advisor as well as check out the web pages on these tests and their equivalencies. Saint Leo University accepts up to 40 credits from standardized examinations.
