How is my financial aid determined?
Your Student Aid Report is reviewed to see if you have any grant and loan eligibility. Using the formula devised by the Federal Department of Education, financial aid staff determine if you have any grant and/or loan eligibility. These "awards" will make-up your "financial aid award" for the current academic year. You can view your financial aid award at
elion.saintleo.edu.

What happens after my award has been made?

I would like to apply for a student loan – how do I?
In order to receive student loans you must have a valid SAR on file and been awarded a federal financial aid award. The federal financial aid award will include student loans if you are eligible. You will be given the option to accept, reduce, or decline the Stafford loans offered to you. Once the Office of Student Financial Services receives all necessary online confirmations, you will receive instructions on how to complete the Electronic Master Promissory Note (E-MPN). You will choose your lender and complete loan entrance counseling during the signing of the Promissory Note.

What happens to my financial aid now that I have received my award (and accepted my loans)?
Once you enroll in classes, your financial aid will "disburse" after the "drop/add" period. If the amount of financial aid disbursed is more than the amount of tuition charges for the term, a refund will be issued to your address on file within 14 days from the date the disbursements were made.
